Time confirmed, the place is finalised..
Going on a date finally after all this while!
Can't get rid of this jitters and butterflies,
I try and pretend, but my mind knows it's all lies!

So much to do and it's already past noon,
We'll be eating at the rooftop under the moon.
It's our first you see, after we knew we were in love..
We took the leap and decided for the fluttering of doves.

Nothing should go wrong, I want it all to be perfect,
Trying my best to leave absolutely no defect!
I'm forgetting something, trying hard to recollect..
I know I'll remember it on the 12th hour, all thanks to my intellect!

I headed straightaway to the shower for the date,
Ofcourse I don't want to smell bad while we ate.
Shampoo my hair so that it too smells good,
After the bath, I gel my hair to get in the mood.

I've to get dressed, but what should I wear?
It's just a casual one, I don't want to overdress!
I first thought of going classic with the tuxedo,
But for a casual dinner, I guess I'll overdo!

So then I went to what every man turns towards,
The saviour, the versatile, the call is never unheard!
Just name the occasion and it fits always right,
I decided to wear my favourite black shirt tonight!

Paired up with chinos and wore sneakers with lace,
Put on my watch and kept my game at ace!
Being friends since long was the best part,
So impressing her was definitely off the cart!

I hop into my car now as I'm all set to go..
I've to pick her and I'm already running late, oh no!
As I'm driving I suddenly remember what I forgot,
Going to her house empty handed, why aren't the flowers bought!

See, didn't I tell you, it's always the case..
I always remember it when it's almost too late!
So I drove to the florist real quick, picked up a bunch,
Tulips are her favourite, I remember once she told over lunch!

Chose all shades of pink with a little purple hue..
I was getting late, so I quickly paid him the sum due!
I rang her doorbell, hid my face behind the flowers..
Heart started racing as now we'll be seeing each other as lovers!

Nervousness sweating down, anxiety increasing,
She opens the door and my mind starts singing!
The tulips I bought lost it's beauty compared to her as I saw,
So beautiful she looked, I kept staring in complete awe!

I opened my car door for her, she looked at me and gave a funny smile,
I've never been this gentleman with her, even I thought that for a while!
We reached our rooftop restaurant, the reservations got us inside soon,
We both were nervous as we felt the jitters, sitting under the shimmering moon!

  1. Shaunak, Shaunak, Shaunak do you hear me? Man this is crazy.
I think I’ll write a blog praising you today.
From the beginning ever since you started writing about it, I was hooked and I wanted to see what happens next. I guess this is the first time you are writing a love poem. Absolutely stunning poetry. The questions in your mind about what you should wear, and then the turmoil in head regarding tuxedo or casual black shirt.
It took my heart away when you said how could you go to pick her empty handed. And then how to bought her tulips of her favourite colour.
And then meanwhile all the little details you added which were funny of course cursing your mind that how it forgets things at the last moment.
    Toooooooooo toooooooooo goooooooddddd!

And then how you opened the door for her, and then how it was to date a friend and everything. I mean everything was beautiful. I guess beautiful is not the word. Shall I say exquisite? Or that is an understatement as well.
I am saving it to read it over and over. And can’t really say if it all happened in real or it’s the brilliant mind of yours that is imagining things. But whatever it is Shaun, I wish the best for you. For I know how courteous a man you are. And how lucky would be the girl whom you’ll court.

Ah, how I so love this!

P.S- Exam time me masti nhi, Chalo padhai Karo ๐Ÿ˜…

Once again can I praise this?
Okay let me, it’s more than Beautiful, I am so happy to see you writing poetry in a flow. I mean look at the rhyme scheme here, how easily it’s flowing.
    You nailed it absolutely.

  3. This is definitely a post that hooks one to read till end and then makes the reader feel bad coz it has ended!๐Ÿ˜‚
I literally was taken away by the whole flow of emotions. The rhyming seemed as if came naturally on its own.
Certainly a great read, to say the least!!

  4. You praised it soo much, I’m already floating on cloud 9.
I just can’t help writing during exams๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ™ˆ, can you imagine my mind carries me away into oblivion when I’m writing and I the best part about it is how it’s just coming all naturally!
I would keep this a suspense as to if it’s real or just another figment of my weird imagination, but I’m glad it all came collectively a beautiful poem.
Ab chala me padhai karne, see you in a few days๐Ÿ’ซ

  5. Heheh, I’m glad my efforts paid off! And I too feel bad that I had to end. Thinking about a part 2 to it, showing how the date went, what say?

  6. Well, that makes me want to know what happens next. I was afraid heโ€™d get to her door and find out it was the wrong day of the week, or she changed her mind, or who knows? I enjoyed that.

  7. I myself used to shut my books and begin writing poems during exams. So I can totally understand you here. It’s gives a whole different feeling.

    You deserved it all Shaun.
I read it quite a few times, I recited it to my cousin, I recommended it to fellow bloggers, I absolutely loved it.

Ah, you are increasing my curiosity by not revealing it. I wish it’s true.
    I will read it again.

You should definitely write its sequel but before that….
